Bay Area Printers’ Fair & Wayzgoose 2015

The Bay Area Printers’ Fair & Wayzgoose is coming to San Jose’s History Park on April 18, 2015 beginning at 10:00 AM.

Print enthusiasts, students, educators, graphic designers, typophiles, artists, and printers will enjoy the demonstrations, tours, and array of vendors and exhibitors. All ages are welcome to this free event.

Activities throughout the day include:
Letterpress Demonstrations & Shop Tours: Museum Print Shop
Members from the San Jose Printers’ Guild will help visitors print keepsakes on several vintage presses from handset wood and metal type, and lead tours of a 1900s era print shop.


Exhibitors and featured artists and craftsmen will demonstrate the skills related to printing and book arts, and show visitors how to set type and impress ink onto paper.

Lunch will be available from a food truck on the grounds. Cold drinks and frozen treats will be available at O’Brien’s Candy Store & Ice Cream Parlor in the Pacific Hotel.

Park for free on local streets or use the San Jose city parking lot on Phelan Ave. for $6. 00.

Directions: Exit Highway 280 at 10th St., then go south on 10th., left on Keyes St., right on Senter Rd., left on Phelan Ave. History San Jose is ahead on left; visitor parking lot ($6) is straight ahead at end of Phelan Ave.

Amgen Tour of California – San Jose

Amgen TourStage 3 Amgen Tour of California – San Jose to Mount Diablo State Park on Tuesday, May 13, 2014.

Stage 3 will start at Lake Cunningham Regional Park on the east side of San Jose. The racers can’t see the south face of Mt. Hamilton at the start, they know that they will feel the start of the climb just five miles into the stage. It is long and steep climb with 22 switchbacks. Once off of Mt Hamilton, it is a long rolling road over San Antonio Valley Rd. Once the race reaches the twisty Mines Road. As the riders skirt the east side of Livermore, the race will hook into last year’s route to Danville and the approach to Mount Diablo.

Veggielution Farm Stand

VeggielutionInterested in locally grown produce? Check out Veggielution Farm Stand located at Emma Prusch Park, 647 S. King Rd in San Jose.

Veggielution claims their produce will always be sold at prices set lower than market rate for organic fruits and vegetables.

Veggielution is a small non-profit farm operating for the community. To help sustain the farm they have a Farm Box program. Each week you go to a “market-style” pick-up at the Farm Stand where you will find bins labeled and filled with each type of vegetable. There are also pick up locations Tuesdays at Williams Street Park / Olinder School and The Studio Climbing Gym.
